Crossing the River   RSS
Crossing the river in Tarapaca to get to Pachica proved to be quite a production. Due to heavy rains in the countries north of Chile, the river, which apparently is normally nothing to speak of, has been overflowing. It was too wide, deep and fast to cross by vehicle or on foot. We could have possible gotten across on just the logs but our equipment wouldn't make it. We watched as the bridge was built for us-and apparently dismantled after we crossed. This was because the river was running so fast that it was in danger of becoming even wider causing the bridge to colapse!
